For those working with young people we know how hard it is to engage. Especially when we are trying to raise emotional literacy and promote good emotional health, or when trying to make a meaningful connection when delivering sex and relationships education (SRE). If the young people are employing destructive or self-harming behaviours as a coping mechanism it can be especially difficult to engage. Cariad yn Cyfri Ltd is pleased to offer training to organisations that face these challenges on a regular basis. Communicating: Listening and hearing: We all know that communication is only 33% verbal. There are many other issues to consider when communicating with people. Not least is how our responses as a professional can hinder, interrupt or sabotage communication. This training explores key listening skills and considers various strategies the professional may adopt. Basic counselling skills will be discussed, with effective interventions that support effective communication. This is an interactive training day and participants are also expected to engage! This training aims to give information, skills, confidence, and empower workers to enable them to communicate effectively, efficiently and meaningfully with clients and others.
