Mission Statement/Ethos: To provide evidence based best practice that will empower the worker by providing knowledge and skills that are directly transferrable when working with children, young people, family systems and adults.

PRIMARY TRAINER

Sofia Wadman : an established trainer with a positive evaluation record. (Wadman, S. (2007) Scratching the Surface, Mental Health Practice, Vol. 10, Number 8.) An experienced Registered General Nurse and trainer, Sofia has extensive clinical and project management skills, developed and established through a variety of roles. Sofia has practical experience with both local and national organisations and authorities across a range of services, statutory and third sector.

Sofia has designed and developed assorted training packages and information booklets, also working in an advisorial capacity within health and social care settings. Her specialist fields include sexual health, sex and relationships education, challenging behaviours, engagement skills, emotional health, suicide, self-harm, and vulnerable groups.

In addition to her clinical practice, training and consultancy work in health, education and social care settings, Sofia is currently delivering Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) throughout Wales, as part of the Welsh Assembly Government's ‘National Action Plan to Reduce Suicide and Self Harm in Wales' programme.

Associate Trainers:

Nick Barnes: an experienced housing law practitioner, who has a track record of successful outcomes working with people in acute need, and over many years has developed a reputation as a tenacious caseworker, working with integrity and passion, retaining his practice in social welfare to continuously enhance both forensic subject knowledge and training outcomes. An experienced training consultant, Nick works with both national and local organisations and authorities, in addition to housing support providers and national law firms, to develop and deliver training programmes and initiatives, in a wide range of social care subjects, including health, housing, welfare benefits and debt/money advice.

In addition to his work in welfare rights training and practice, Nick is currently delivering Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training throughout Wales, as part of the Welsh Assembly Government's 'National Action Plan to Reduce Suicide and Self Harm in Wales' programme.
